Hi, I am Avelyn
I make warm, unhurried photographs for people who would rather be caught laughing than told to say cheese.
I picked up a camera because I kept wanting to hold onto things that would not hold still. That has not really changed. These days I photograph weddings, engagements, growing families and the occasional very new person, mostly around Nova Scotia and often somewhere with long grass and better light than we deserved.
My approach is quiet. I am not going to spend your session barking poses at you. I will get you moving, give you something to do with your hands, and then get out of the way, because the frames worth keeping usually arrive about four minutes after everyone stops performing.
What you can expect from me is warmth, patience and someone who genuinely likes this. What I ask from you is a willingness to be a little silly and to trust that the awkward first ten minutes are completely normal. Everyone has them. They never make the gallery.
